Level Three Standards & Expectations

 

What I should expect from you:

  1. Come to school on time and prepared to learn.  This means bringing your completed assignments, at least two sharpened number 2 pencils, folders, and textbooks into the classroom at the start of every day.  You will not be allowed to visit your locker once the school day has begun.
  2. Write down your homework assignment at the end of the day.  It is your responsibility to check the board at the end of each day.
  3. During class, it is essential that we cultivate an environment of respect and openness to new ideas.  This includes raising one’s hand to appropriately indicating that you wish to share an idea or ask a question, listening carefully to fellow students, and adding thoughtfully to shared inquiry discussion.  It also includes being a productive member of your team or learning community—doing your fair share of each and every assignment.

 

What you should expect from me:

  1. All learning objectives will clearly state what you will be expected to do or learn each and every day.
  2. Assignments and assessments will be graded and returned to you in a timely manner.  You will be updated frequently on your progress in class through student-educator conferences.  Your class average will never come as a surprise to you.
  3. I will contribute to our environment of respect by treating each student respectfully and fairly.
  4. I will be available to schedule conferences during the work day with parents or guardians upon request.

 

Homework Standard

Completing your homework is an essential part of your learning.  Work should be accurate, neat, and on time.  Work that is handed in late will be marked accordingly.  It is your responsibility to complete assignments missed as a result of excused absences. 

 

Performance Standard

Be an active learner.  Listen to the teacher and your fellow students.  Involve yourself during classroom discussions as often as possible.  Most importantly, support your ideas with sound reasoning.

 

Assessment Standard

Quizzes, tests, examinations, discussion, or direct inquiry will be routinely administered to assess your knowledge of major concepts.
